Countdown to Christmas - Music Advent Calendar
created by Sandy Bryan, Utah & Michelle Sisler

Download this free December advent calendar with practice ideas each day for students to complete.   Put a sticker in each date an activity is completed.  Once the entire calendar is completed and signed by a parent, students can choose a prize from the treasure box.

Christmas Camp
submitted by Jennifer Foxx, Goodyear, AZ

In December, I always hold a Christmas Camp, a music workshop, with a Christmas theme.  December is a busy time of year for families and practicing often gets put on the backburner.  So students sign up for a session which replaces regular lessons that month.  Past themes have been The Nutcracker, Christmas Around the World, The 12 Composers of Christmas, etc...  Students concentrate on playing Christmas pieces to their hearts content in December and focus on “on your own” pieces.  They come back in January refreshed and refocused for the New Year.

Christmas Recital
submitted by Sharon Stahr Fisher, Texas

This year I decided that I wanted to do something different for my annual Christmas recital.  So, instead of having it at a music store or performance hall we are having it at a restaurant.  I have reserved a room at a local restaurant with variable prices.  Each family will order and pay for their own meals and with that, the restaurant is not charging me for the room.  I am very excited about my kids experiencing a new way to perform and the families are all excited about this new experience.
